Workshops

My workshops are completely personalised.

You contact me, we talk, work out if I have the right skills and equipment to help you and organise sessions at our mutual convenience. You do not need a DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) camera or any equipment. I use Nikon gear and will provide a D90 or D700 and a range of lenses, tripods, monopods and other accessories. Of course, it is preferable if you can bring your own gear. If you are a more experienced photographer wanting to learn about a specialised interest - macro or HDR, for example - I have the skills, equipment and approach to very quickly have you producing quality images. Many photographers, experienced in using film, are seeking to learn more about digital photography, social media and using the internet to share, learn and collaborate, will find me particularly able and enthusiastic in this area. Ongoing support online is possible.

These sessions can take place in your home, in the stunning surrounds of Kiama, or the wider world depending on what you are focused on learning. The price ranges from free, to you paying for me to accompany you on an extensive world tour, as your personal photographer and tutor. I also offer unemployed/pensioner rates and those suitable for younger photographers. My own children, aged 5 and 8, are learning photography and would often accompany youngsters (and their parents) of a similar age and share the experience.

Free you ask...why? I am an educator by profession and love to share my knowledge. If you cannot afford lessons or gear, it is possible I can help you out. One day you may be internationally acclaimed and I will reap the rewards. Of course, I prefer more immediate payment!

My message to you: if you are interested in learning more about the art of photography, contact me and we can make suitable arrangements.

Personalised workshops can focus on:

  • having fun 'shooting' with our cameras, processing and publishing in the same session
  • school holiday sessions that involve the participants having stunning images of Kiama and surrounds to share
